OCIA (Formerly known as RCIA)

OCIA: Order OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
- OCIA* is the process for adults who desire to join or return to the Catholic Church. It is open to both individuals who have never been baptized and those who have been baptized in another Christian community, and those simply wanting to better understand the Catholic faith. The process extends through the year, beginning with a period of inquiry into the Catholic faith and culminating at the Easter Vigil when one is baptized and welcomed into the Catholic Church through a profession of faith, the sacrament of Confirmation, and reception of Holy Communion.

  Parents who desire Baptism for their infants and older children should contact Jacqui Hayes, Communications & Family Ministry.
  
  *It was changed to better reflect the process. Because there are multiple rites within the initiation, the title has changed from RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) to OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults). We will use the terms interchangeably for now.

It is simply a way for us to get a head count of participants who would like to learn more about the faith. If you have already received all the sacraments and are a full member of the Church, but would like to learn more about being Catholic, RCIA is a great place to start!
