The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the highest form of prayer we have in the Catholic Faith. The Holy Eucharist is where we meet Our Lord in His entire Person - Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, and He desires to bring us into eternal life with Him through His Grace. This is the source and summit of the Christian life - from which all things proceed, and to which all things point.
Incense has been used as part of worshiping God and in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass since ancient times - even dating back to God's Holy Temple in Jerusalem. In light of many of our Parishioners having allergies and sensitivities to certain scents and smells, we have developed
an Incense Use Policy in accordance with best Liturgical Practices, and in consideration of our Parishioners.
During our Confession times on Saturday evening and Sunday, our priests alternate who is hearing confessions based on who is celebrating the next Mass; whichever priest is not celebrating Mass will hear confessions (see the Mass schedule in our bulletins).
Both priests hear confessions on Saturday mornings, in their respective confessionals in the back of the church.
Confessions are also available any time by appointment. Please call our main office at (608) 238-3471 or email one of our priests to schedule a time here.
HOLY DAYS OF OBLIGATION
As the Baltimore Catechism phrased it:
"We are created to know, love, and serve God so as to be happy with Him forever in Heaven. "
In addition to being called to grow in relationship with God, as a matter of justice - doing what is right:
we recognize that we owe right worship to God - simply because He is God, and we are not.
The Church teaches that it is a moral obligation that we attend Mass - particularly on Holy Days of Obligation.
Holy Days of Obligation are special days honoring God, or honoring God through Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and/or His Saints.
Here are a list of Holy Days of Obligation:
* Sundays also extend to the Saturday evening Vigil Mass the night prior.
**If these feast days fall on a Monday or a Saturday, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated.
Two weeks after Pentecost: Our Parish Feast Day; a Eucharistic procession follows our last Sunday Mass.
Other special feast day Masses will be announced here and in our bulletin
