Liturgical Ministry
We
are called to serve one another as members of the parish community.
We are challenged by the example of Jesus to reach out in loving
service to others, offering hospitality and welcome to the community at
large. The
LITURGY is
the SUMMIT towards
which As
a parish family, though diverse, we come together to celebrate our unity
with God and with one another. Strengthened
by our prayer together, we are empowered to make that unity in diversity
present in our daily lives. Ministries:
Mass Servers (beginning in 5th grade) Each
September an opportunity is provided for Parish members to sign up
for involvement in the above named ministries. Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Gift Bearers are given a schedule periodically and seasonally. Other schedules are provided for servers, musicians, usher/greeters, washing of linens, sacristans. The Ministry of Music
The music ministers assist the common prayer of the assembly through their musical leadership. The music ministry includes a variety of styles to meet a diversity of needs. The
Parish Choir is open to
anyone high school age or above. The
music chosen is of a variety of styles from Gregorian Chant to
contemporary music. The group rehearses Thursday evening (7:30-9:00pm) and
usually leads the assembly in song at the 11:00 am Sunday liturgy. Contemporary
Groups rotate in
leading the music each week at 9:00 am Sunday and at the 5:00
pm Saturday Masses. Childrens Choir is formed for Christmas and other celebrations. Instruments are integral to our parish music program: Piano, organ, guitar, bass, woodwinds, brass and strings, etc. Wedding
Celebration Couples seeking to wed at Blessed Sacrament should contact one of the parish priests to arrange a date. Pre-cana preparation should begin 6 months before the wedding date. Funeral
Celebrations The entire
Christian community shares the ministry of consolation and is therefore to
be involved in caring for the dying, praying for the dead, and comforting
those who mourn. Family
members or those responsible for the liturgical elements should contact
the parish as soon as possible. A meeting time will be scheduled so that
appropriate readings and prayers,
psalms and songs may be chosen to express the deep faith of the Church and
simultaneously provide and awareness of Gods healing and saving
presence. The parish priest who is presiding for the funeral will contact the parish music director who will in turn contact musicians and vocalists. Blessed Sacrament parish is able to coordinate funeral luncheons when funerals occur before noon. Parish
Music Director, Kitty Maas Office: 238-3471
