Confirmation is one of three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church. At Blessed Sacrament Parish, the normative age for the reception of this Sacrament is junior year in High School. For those in high school, there is a list of prerequisites to enter the Confirmation Preparation program. A list of these requirements can be found below.

* For Small Group Sessions, the location, date, and time will be set by small group leaders; thus, the dates listed may change.

Large Group Sessions begin with Youth Mass at 5 PM in the Church, followed by social/supper in basement, followed by Session. Sessions will generally begin at 6:30 PM and end at 8 PM.

· To enter the Confirmation Program:

o Students from Public High Schools must have completed 10 segments (all 6 of The

Basics segments and 4 Elective segments);

o Students from Catholic High Schools must have completed 4 segments (from

either The Basics segments or Electives segments);

· Students and Parents must attend the Information Meeting (this year held on

September 21, 2008, following the 5 PM Youth Mass);

· Students must attend ALL the Confirmation sessions (Sessions are listed above).

· An interview with the Pastor, Pastoral Associate or Coordinator (near the end of the

Confirmation program).

· Write a short reflection regarding a service experience.

· Choose a sponsor (must be a practicing, Confirmed Catholic).

· Participate in the scheduled Confirmation retreat.

· Regular attendance at the weekend Masses.

· A copy of Baptismal certificate IF NOT baptized at Blessed Sacrament.

· Activity fee of $95.00.

Sponsors are adult Catholics who walk the journey of faith with the Candidates and help guide them closer to Christ. Sponsors must be at least 21 years of age, active Catholics who have already been confirmed, and cannot be the candidate’s parent. Sponsors attend all Large Group and Small Group sessions with their candidate. Sponsors do not need to attend the overnight retreat.
